Mentorship Program Updates*

One-to-One Adult Mentorship Program
Can you name someone who made a major positive impact in your life?
*Can you see yourself being that person for somebody else?

In partnership with Goodwill Industries, B.L.E.S.S.E.D. Ministries, Inc. (BMI) is seeking mentors for its Adult One-to-One Mentoring Program, designed to assist formally incarcerated individuals who reside in the Essex County, New Jersey community by matching them with outstanding community leaders, known as Mentors.

What is a mentor? A mentor is a trusted counselor and guide, who helps and directs another individual’s development, knowing that a person who receives direction and encouragement has a greater chance of success.

BMI's 4 Mentorship Goals are:
Reduce Recidivism – Mentors will encourage mentees will become productive members of society through competitive employment and not return to prison.
Secure/Maintain Employment – Mentees will be coached and encouraged during the job search process, secure employment, maintain the position successfully and encouraged to grow in their career.
Stable Housing – Mentees will be encouraged to obtain stable housing and directed to appropriate programs for housing assistance.
Positive Relationships Created/Maintained – Mentees will be encouraged to cultivate beneficial, positive relationships and reduce their interaction with those who through their negative influence may increase the chance of recidivism.
